Do you want to enable all users in your company to use the CRM? Do you want them to find the data they need quickly? Sure, right?

To ensure it is well-received by everyone, you need to check if you are using an accessible low-code platform. Your platform needs to comply with several web accessibility guidelines and standards that are mandatory for digital accessibility. Let’s understand what this means.

What is Web Accessibility and who is it for?

Web accessibility is the idea that technology must be equally accessible for everyone, regardless of any disability in any aspect. It fosters the access of every individual to the facilities, products, and services offered via the web.

This connects us further to the question as to who might not be able to able to access apps built with a low-code platform. Which hindrances keep some people from accessing?

Disabilities are a significant concern addressed by web accessibility. When you implement an accessible app using inclusive design principles, your apps can be used by people with disabilities. We can broadly categorize these disabilities into five types:

  • Cognitive
This category includes various disabilities such as memory impairments, multiple sclerosis, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, seizure disorders, or learning disabilities. An accessible low-code platform considers these issues and enables you to build suitable apps.
  • Visual
People with low vision, blindness, and color blindness need applications with correct color schemes, high contrasts in charts and more.
  • Motor
People having arthritis, repetitive stress injury, amputation, muscular dystrophy, or reduced dexterity require apps they can use with, for example, only the keyboard.
  • Auditory
Deafness or hard of hearing individuals need training videos with subtitles so that they can learn how to use the low-code platform or accessible apps created with it.
  • Speech
Vocal impairments can be a barrier for some people to learn how to use a new platform or app. Interactive training sessions need to take this into account.

With web accessibility, you also need to keep in mind other factors, such as the age and conditions of the users. Apps designed for senior citizens will need to look different than apps for young adults. So, everyone can benefit from web accessibility. Accessible low-code platforms have enhanced features that allow creating a better customer experience and remove barriers.

Making Low-Code Accessible

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines have been established to make all developers aware of the concept of web accessibility. At Crust, we are committed to moving the development of inclusive software forward. We recognize that having an accessible low-code platform, allowing you to build WCAG compliant apps, is essential. So, keep an eye out on upcoming news about this subject!
